Halloween Has Been Cancelled

Due to the bad weather, the number of people without electricity and the number of trees down.

Can you see the wire down going across the street? This is two blocks from us.

This is downtown. There was a broken tree on every block, practically.

This tree fell on memere's car port. Memere's car is okay, thankfully.

The other side of memere's house. She and pepere are here with us until the power is restored. There are over 300,000 people without power. There is no school tomorrow, because the high school is being used as a pet friendly shelter. 80% of the town where mom works had no power yesterday. We'll see if mom actually goes to work today.

Shovelling 14" of Snow Sunday

This was at 7:30 pm last night.

Here is the dogwood a couple of years ago.

Those are the berry bushes on the right. Dad is worried about the neighbor's tree that covers the garage, and mom's car and the power lines to the house. If you don't hear from us, that will be why.

Update: There is 14" inches in the back yard. There are branches down everywhere. A street over has no power. Auntie has no phone, Memere has no power. Mom will be mounting a rescue mission later this afternoon for Memere, Pepere & Missy. Estimates for people to get there power back is 2 days to 1 week. -sigh-

Biggest Storm This Early In Recorded History

More SNOW! And it's not even November yet! Oh man, it's gonna be a looooooong winter!

Update - Now they are calling for almost a foot of snow. The weather forecasters are also calling it the Biggest Storm This Early in Recorded History. Oh MAN!

SNOW!!!

It snowed last night. Phooey, I say! Who wants snow before Halloween? Not me, that's for sure.

Thanks to those of you who bought raffle tickets. Mom is trying to figure out how long to run the raffle for (can you smell more smoke?). Don't worry, it should be up for a while, at least long enough for mom to figure out how long it should be up for. lol

Thinking Thursday

Mom has been thinking (yes, that is smoke you smell, lol) about how to raise money for PlusOne to go to Europe with the People to People Student Ambassador Program. Several years ago mom and Auntie raffled off a queen size quilt to help a blogger in need. Now we would like to ask for help.

Mom and Auntie will offer raffle tickets for a queen size quilt. Here is the finished quilt that they did for the last raffle.

These tickets will be $10.00 each. There is a buy button to your left and hopefully mom did the button right so you can buy a ticket.


Mom is also raffling off a 4' x 5' Lap robe with quilt batting inside. These are nice for the cold winter days that will soon be coming. The top photo and the bottom two are examples of the lap robes mom has made.


Both items are machine washable in warm or hot and machine dry-able, made in smoke free environments with lots of love and a smattering of pug hair (guaranteed to keep you happy).

Mom will also be selling some of Memere's artwork and silk scarves once Memere has some ready to sell.

Tattle Tale Tuesday

Remember last week when I told you I left something for mom when she didn't get me outside soon enough?

Well, that may have been stretching the truth a little bit. When dad takes me out, I run around and sit around and finally pee, but I don't do my other business until he takes me back inside. Then I run into the bathroom (it's a tile floor, at least) and leave him a little gift. I just want him to know how much I love him. lol

The Things Humans Do

Here I am wondering why mom is re-learning Algebra! Then again, why do parents do anything? Kenpo, Jui Jitsu, work, baths, gardening? They should really just be more like us pugs, don't you think? Sleep, eat and get into trouble. I bet mom really would much rather be a pug than re-learn Algebra!

Tough Thursday

Mom woke up late very late (7:00 am which is bad, because she is supposed to leave at 7:15 am to get PlusOne and his buddy to school). And she didn't manage to get me outside in time, so she stepped in a gift I left her (right after she got out of the world's fastest shower). I hope the rest of her day goes better.

Tattle Tale Tuesday

Yesterday morning mom put all her clothes on the bed for when she was ready to get dressed. I came upstairs with my morning treat, dropped it on her clean clothes, laid ON her clean clothes and started to eat my treat, ON HER CLEAN CLOTHES. She wasn't really happy with me and I really don't know why. snicker

All To Ourselves

Mom went back to work today, much rested after all the laying on her I did yesterday. Sheesh, I'm tired from trying to keep that woman still. Do you know how HARD IT IS to keep my mom still? Finally she started quilting and then I could ease up on her. But otherwise, all I have to say is, I'm pooped!

Here is one of her quilt blocks. Get ready for more, but don't worry, I will make certain that the blogs remains focused on ME!

PlusOne's Great Opportunity

PlusOne was nominated to be a People to People Student Ambassador during the summer of 2012. What that means is that PlusOne would go to France, Italy and Greece for 20 days. He would climb the Eiffel Tower, see the Mona Lisa (mom is SO jealous), Montmartre, Versailles, Venice, Assisi, Rome (the Sistine Chapel - mom is SO jealous), Athens, the Acropolis (mom is SOOOOO jealous) and experience all sorts of stuff that mom says is great but I say who cares.

PlusOne has to be interviewed and chosen to go. His interview is scheduled for Saturday, October 22nd. If he is selected, mom and dad have to raise a LOT of money to pay for it. Mom is thinking of ways to raise money. I would say sell Lucky, but I must admit that wouldn't really make me happy. I'd sell my green beans and berries but they don't come out until next summer.
Mom says she has ideas going through her mind which she will share with you when PlusOne gets selected (have to be positive here).

So all your good thoughts towards PlusOne would be appreciated. Then maybe I can have my blog back.

Sleep Late Day

PlusOne does not have school today, so Lucky and I get to sleep late curled up next to him. It was all that sunshine yesterday and temperatures in the 80's that made me so sleepy. It's a hard life but someone has to do it. lol

Finally Friday

Time to relax and sit in the sun. We are supposed to have record highs Saturday and Sunday. You can bet your bottom dollar Lucky and I will be sitting in a sunbeam. A very WARM sunbeam!

No Surprise

Since I love broccoli and green beans, it should come as no surprise that I love asparagus as well.

Mom decided to give me the ends and I was VERY happy with this arrangement. Lucky was already in bed, so I didn't even have to share. Woo Hoo! Here's hoping for more asparagus!

Tasty Tuesday

This is a loaf of French Bread that PlusOne made for mom and dad (not me, of course). It is very tasty. It is even tastier than the White Bread. Mom and dad don't know why, nor do they care. It tastes good so they eat it. Hog it. Don't share it. But that's okay. I won't get mad. I'll just get even.

Green Beans

Mom has decided that next year she is only planting pole green beans. The first reason is that I won't be able to reach them (watch me) and the second is they produce a LOT more, BIGGER beans than the bush plants. I was going to show you a photo of the 19 or 21 green beans that mom picked yesterday, except she forgot to take a photo of them. She did, however, manage a photo of one of the big, thick beans.


I know you have no reference for them, but take my word on it, they are about 4-5 inches long. Mom also decided that when she pulls the ends off, she should give them to me. I love raw green beans. And yes, my adoring fans, I did get cooked green beans. They were yummy and tender, even the big thick ones were very tender. Here's hoping for more tonight!

Dog Pile

Okay, as Millie so kindly pointed out yesterday in the comments section, it was NOT as sunny as I'd hoped. However, that did not stop us from having a fun dog and kitty pile.

I was in my usual spot

and Lucky was on PlusOne's shoulder, but you can't see Benny & Lily, Payton, and Emma & Herman (Manda and Oisin were there in spirit). They were further down the sofa, some under the blankets some not. We all had a very nice time dog and kitty piling. It was fun and comfy. I think we will have to do that more often.
