Black Belt Mama, Ninja Mom, Teacher

We all know mom has her black belt. She has her black belt in Kenpo Karate. Mom is also a Certified Beginning Level Instructor. It means she has a really cool white gi top with a neat black stripe on her right sleeve. (Like the one Mr. Karate is wearing.) (But I can't find a nice picture of her in it.) Mr Karate is a 2nd Degree Black Belt. He is working on his Beginning Lever Instructor Certification. Mom used to be an English major. For mom, writing is easy. That's why she got her Certification before Mr. Karate. For Mr. Karate, karate is easy, graceful, fluid, beautiful, makes people stop talking and stare, etc etc. (Mom's not like that, just in case you were wondering.

Mom helps teach the Adults Beginners on Monday and Wednesday nights. The woman who was helping teach the Adult Intermediate class had to leave, so mom is taking her position. For the last four weeks, mom has taught two nights, four classes, Beginners and Intermediates. In one week she will not be teaching the Beginners at all. She takes class two nights and one morning. She sits through three classes for the boy and of course, works a full time job, is mom, wife and blogger's assistant, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Tonight the Head Instructor pulled her over during the Beginner's class and said, "I have to talk to someone, start the next class up, keep them moving and I'll be back after about fifteen minutes."

So what did mom think? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

It looks something like this!

Or maybe, something like this.

Well, maybe not, but you get the idea. Mom's been helping out in class for three years. (She taught kids for two years) She has even started the class a few times, but get them going for fifteen minutes! Yikes! That's a little different. And of course, mom wants to do a good job so the Instructor has faith in her and doesn't regret putting her in that position, etc. etc.

Well, the long and short of it is... she survived. She might have talked a little too much (can you tell she likes to talk?) but she thought overall it went well. And she thinks the Instructor was happy with her because after she warmed them up, she started reviewing the techniques they had been learning, so when he came on the mat, he said "Technique review, good." (He is a man of few words, but they really, really mean something when he says them!)

So anyway, mom is really, really happy, and the itching is getting better, and if she can just sleep more than five hours, she will be happy and back to normal. And get back to my blogs. She did not get to any of them today. I think I will have to forgive her, just this once. What do you say?

Good Job!! Usually when they spring ao "ok warm them up I'll be back" I can just about get over the shock enough to do basics. Excellent work reviewing techniques!

I know I say it often but that doesn't make it any less real:
I'm so proud of you =)

Wow, your Mom sure is busy. Now a teacher, congratulations! Your family looks very nice.(Also your Mom and the Boy) I guess Millie's Mom is the "runt of the litter"? So is mine. She is the shortest in her family ,except for her Mom.

I know why you have been good.I wouldn't dare to do anything wrong if my Mom was a black belt in Kenpo Karate!

Good that she is less itchy.Maybe then she can sleep and you can have more attention.Heh.Heh.Heh.

Hi Roxy.
Mom did not know where to get it so she "stole " it from another site. Then she put it in a graphics program and pasted in the pic of you.She had to fiddle a bit, but it looks OK(I hope).

Mom says it's probably a good thing Millie's Mom does not have a black belt and does not live in Canada.Hahaha!

You must be so proud of your mom, a black belt and now a teacher! Wow, we are impressed. She has been very busy and kinda itchy lately, so we agree you forgive for neglecting blogs lately. Love the picture of your bean family and the ones of the boy cracked us up. You and he must have lots of fun together.

Wow! A black belt! Your mom could have used her skills to save your sister from the evil vet! Mommy's story with her vet is long, but I'll get straight to the point: the put in some highly inaccurate comments in my medical records which resulted in pet insurance not covering allergies-which i do not have-insurance requires vet to write a statement saying that he does not have allergies. vet refused to do so because of a review mommy had written on her terrible services she reaceived but told her if she removed the review she would. so mommy removed the review-vet is going against her word-and threatened to seek legal action against her if she called her office one more time. Thats mommy story, but at least i didn't get tied to the wall. I don't blame you for not going back! Can your Mommy teach my Mommy karate? i think she wants to kick some major butt!
