Grumpy Mom

Mom is grumpy. After a week of rain and NO leaks, we had a huge thunderstorm last night and the roof leaked. She doesn't know where it is coming in and she is very frustrated. I guess she will have to play roof adventure AGAIN!

Also, during her run Saturday morning she got overheated and dizzy and had to sit down about twelve minutes into it. She was very embarrassed, as she has run 20 solid minutes before and she wanted to set a good example as team leader. She also pulled some calf muscles, so she is limping and in pain.

Of course, her instructor told her that she was running faster than he had ever seen her run before (a treadmill can pace you a lot better than a wide open space in front of you). He also said "You THINK?" when she told him she thought she got overheated. Well, duh! It was hot and humid and mom does not do well in hot and humid.

Luckily their is no class this Saturday (in celebration for July 4th) but mom is determined NOT to have any problems at the next class. There is no rest for the wicked. Or my mom.

  1. Roof leaks can be very frustrating. I hope that your Mom's next roof adventure will be her last. Hot and humid can really get to you. I'm glad that your Mom had the sense to stop and rest when she got overheated. I hope that your Mom does not have any problems in the next class.

  2. We're very impressed with your Mom's efforts - tell her it's okay to work up to running for 20 minutes. That was smart of her to take it easy for a bit when it's hot and humid. Hope she has a better time next week,

  3. Roxy - Tell your mom to take a deep breath, hold it in for a few seconds, and then exhale slowly. This is what I tell my mom to do when she gets all stressed. The roof leak has to be coming from somewhere and I'm sure your mom will find it.

Mom used to run and she told me how hard it was to do in the heat and humidity. Mom was not very good at pacing herself (she only has one speed), but tell your mom to chill out and relax.

Pugs are so smart, aren't we?

  4. Hi Roxy! You tell your Momma to stop being so hard on herself! She is wonderful at Karate and I know the roof thing will get fixed... life is just frustrating sometimes!

  6. I can see why mom is grumpy!! Leaks are no fun especially when you thought you had them fixed!! As for the running thing, humidity is a killer. Good thing she stopped to rest!!

  7. I think she is doing quite well. The Woman laughed saying she's not the only one who runs too fast without the treadmill to pace her!

At any rate, I think some time with you should cheer up your Mom

  8. Fixing a roof is NO Fun. I can see why she would be grumpy. As for the running, yea running outside too is very different on the body than inside. Tell your mom not to be embarrassed, she should be proud she's training!

  9. My Old Girl is having trouble running in this heat, too. I personally think she is just lazy. I never have any trouble at all. ;)

  12. Let your Mom person know that my Woman and I were on a "run" when we lived in Mobile, and about 20 minutes into it, she got so dizzy that she had to lay in someone's yard. That's right. She just laid right down in their yard. I was so embarrassed!!
