This Is More Like It

Ta Da!

Here is the finished Ham Meezer Quilt. It is flying off to Mary Kay today.

Naturally, I am checking it out. Mom was supposed to help Auntie tie it, but since Mr. Karate did that, mom didn't have to. Yeah.

So instead, mom worked on her quilt. Lucky kept a careful watch to make sure mom was not working too hard.

And mom decided she did not want to balance the checkbook, so she didn't. She worked on the quilt. She didn't rake, she didn't go food shopping (dad does), she did do laundry and change the sheets on the bed, but she just sort of relaxed. And worked on the quilt. See, Lucky is keeping careful track of all the pieces. Isn't she a good girl.

And then mom, dad and PlusOne watched Underdog. It was really cute. But seriously, a BEAGLE with super powers? It should have been a pug. We are much cuter. And much smarter.

This is Vacation?

So, on the first day of vacation, mom got up at 8:00 am, talked to dad, then memere, then went off to karate. PlusOne was still sleeping. He has a bit of a virus, and is on medication. When mom came back, she found out that PlusOne and Dad had gone for a ride on dad's scooter.

So, since it was 76 degrees, mom decided to rake in the back yard. And of course she took Lucky and me outside with her. Let me tell you something! Watching her rake is tiring. Plus, it got pretty hot out there in the sun. Especially if you have a dark coat! So this is what I did when we got back inside.

After that, mom worked on her quilt, took PlusOne to his cello lesson, and then they all went to see a movie, with Mr. Karate and Auntie. They went to see the new Jet Li & Jackie Chan Movie, The Forbidden Kingdom. They had a lot of fun.

When they got home, mom worked on her quilt some more, they ate, mom cleaned the kitchen, then she and PlusOne went to the bookstore. (Tomorrow she wants to tackle the pile of things on the computer desk, which includes the checkbook and some insurance paperwork.

Now I ask you, does that sound like a relaxing day? I think I am just going to have to SIT on that woman to make her stop and rest. And I mean SIT!

Vacation Day #1

In honor of the first day of vacation, Lucky is going to help mom with her quilt. Lucky is keeping the quilt pieces warm. Isn't she a good girl? I would be "re-organizing" them. You know what that means.

Since it is the first day, mom is going to rest a little. She has suddenly decided she is tired.

So I guess some sleeping is in order.

Dad is setting a fine example here. Hopefully, mom will follow it and go to bed before 11:00 pm like she has been.

Finally Friday!

I expect to be doing a lot more of this, because at 4:30 pm today, mom and PlusOne are on VACATION. For a whole week!

Yup, this is going to be a lot of fun.

Lots and lots and lots of fun!

Thursday Thirteen - Art In The Family

PlusOne was in preschool when he did this. Memere confiscated it as soon as she saw it.

Mom's brother is a photographer. You can go here to see more of his work.

Auntie's coffee table.

Auntie's bureau for Mr. Karate, by Auntie.

Memere's oil painting. Mom loves this one.

Memere, oil sticks, mom thinks.

Memere, oil sticks, colored pencils, mom's not sure.

Memere, painting.

I think it runs in the family, what do you think?

Goals

Mom has set some goals for herself, no that she isn't worrying about PlusOne and his black belt exams. The first was to clean out the top shelf of the cabinets to the left of the sink, and make more space for glasses and mugs, which seem to be multiplying.

The second is to start working on her Intermediate Level Instructor's Certification. She started that one today. There are twenty four techniques, two forms and one set she has to write out in kenpo language as if she was teaching it, naming directions faced, moves, power principles and timing. It may take a while, but she's got a good start.

The third is to finish this Asian quilt she started a while ago and put aside when things got a little too busy (her black belt exams, life, etc, etc.)

She also has some smaller goals. Balance the checkbook, clean off the computer desk, finish the living room drapes (with Auntie's help) and a few other things like that. You can ask her how she is doing on any of them, she won't mind.

In the mean time, we are heading over to the party at The Cat Realm, for their One Year Blogoversary. Stop by and say "Hi"! The food looks delish! I just hope they have broccoli.
