We Got Off Easy

We never lost power, though the lights did flicker once or twice and we had no basement water so mom figures we got off really easy. Apparently we were on the "right" side of the hurricane/tropical storm, which means that we got more wind and less rain.

This photo is from west and north of us. Boy, am I thankful we are not there!

Thanks for all the concern and thoughts. Like I said, we were lucky and I can honestly say I don't mind being lucky this time.

Easy Like Sunday Morning - NOT

There really isn't much we can do today. Watch it rain, hope our roof doesn't get blown off, or Mom's sunflowers get flattened, hope we don't lose power, or have a flooded cellar. Still, we really can't complain. There are people MUCH worse off than we are. We hope they are safe and sound and get their power back on real soon!

Irene Who?

Mom says Irene is coming and we have to prepare (like taking in all the yard furniture). She also said that if Irene smooshes any of her green bean plants or sunflowers, it's not going to be pretty. All I know is that Irene should stay away from my mom if she's smart, and all of my blogger buddies as well. Getting mom upset is NOT what you want to do. (Of course, that's why I do it all the time, lol)

Request

Mom's coworker, Angel, is in need of prayers and good thoughts for her daughter (young teacher). Mom would appreciate it if you could send a prayer and thoughts of recovery to Young Teacher. She is in real need of them and mom totally believes in the power of prayer and the blogosphere.

Thank you very much, it means a lot to mom.

Mom's Birthday

Mom is 49 years old today. Happy Birthday, mom!

Here's mom as a young spud (complete with red corrective shoes for flat feet). (Yes, that is Auntie to the left.)

Geek mom, with braces! (I think you ought to lose that photo, mom!)

And here is mom with her memere, way back in the mid seventies. This memere taught mom how to make cookies and quilts. Mom says she was a lot of fun.

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Wordy Wednesday

Lucky here, it's Payback Time!

How much closer to the back of the chair do I have to go to squish Roxy like she squished me? Or make her get up and leave the chair all together?

Lucky Says

That I am a pain.
I am sure that I don't know what she is talking about.

Do you?

That's what I thought. You have no idea either!

Mutant Green Beans!

And yes, I did get some. Even a couple of raw ones that mom dropped (because I was nipping at her hands with the green beans in them, lol).

MOM FORGOT MY BLOGOVERSARY

Can you believe it? I can't. I am so disgusted with mom right now, you have no idea.

Don't talk to me mom, I have nothing to say to you.

Talk to Lucky instead. I am ignoring you.

Lucky Wants To Know

When PlusOne is coming home. He's been with Pepere since Tuesday morning, being a "bachelor" and sleeping over. I want to know when he's coming back as well, as Lucky is being a bed hog and I am tired of sharing mom and dad with her.

Thursday Thoughts

You know what I think? I think this pug, Otis, is NUTS! Absolutely stark raving BONKERS.

Dora (who belongs to our late friend Fat Eric's mum and dad) sent us this link to the story about Otis and I gotta tell you, I love climbing, but I do NOT think I would like falling. Mom's opinion of skydiving is "why jump out of a perfectly good airplane?"

A
nyway, go and take a look at this skydiving pug. (And then thank goodness that your parent is not INSANE!!!)

Chef Dad

Chef Dad and his assistant PlusOne, made mom bread Sunday with dad's new bread machine. Here they are getting started.

Here is the bread right out of (or rather, still in) the oven (oven???) machine.

Et voila! As PlusOne would say.

The proud chefs.

All I can say is it smelled really, really good, but as usual, they didn't let me have any. sigh. What else is new.
How do you work this thing?

Happy Birthday Lucky!

Lucky is eight years old today. Happy Birthday, my lovable, blond sister!

Today is also the 26th anniversary of the day mom and dad met. Wow! Can you believe it? 26 years. Dad says the first one hundred are the hardest.

Lucky is Lucky

Lucky loves it when mom decides to take a nap.

Then she has a nice pillow to lean against and sleep on.

Happy 50th Birthday Dad

Dad is 50 today, can you believe it? That's like a squillion years in dog years. Here he is as a young spud, right before he joined the navy.

Here he is with mom, like a bazillion years ago.

Here he is with the cutest pug puppy ever.

Here he is being typical dad.

Happy Birthday, Dad! We all love you a whole lot!!

Thursday Treats

What are you doing, mom?

You've made green beans? Am I going to get some this time?

Nom, nom, nom.

Yummy, yummy in my tummy. Green beans are so GOOD and good FOR you! Thanks mom!

Tattle Tale Tuesday

I have decided that if mom doesn't give me green beans tonight, I am going to eat them right off the plant, just like I do the broccoli. This is her last chance. (Of course, she didn't eat any last night, so that's probably why I didn't get any. But just the same, she ought to be sharing with me, don't you think?

Mom The Meany

Mom went out and picked herself a whole bunch of green beans yesterday. She cooked them up, nice and tender, and then ATE THEM ALL HERSELF! (Well, she did share with dad and PlusOne.) But NOT ME! I gave her my best begging look too! See....

I am going to have to unleash my secret weapon. This look!

Who can resist that look? Huh, huh. Who, I ask, who? No one, that's for sure. Mom is sure to cave when she sees that look. And besides, Dad's on vacation this week and he ALWAYS slips me wheat thins and pieces of cheese. Who needs mom and her silly old green beans. (me, yup, that's right, me! I want it ALL!!)
