Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Things We Will Need For Our Kidnap/Rescue Mission of Auntie.

1) Theme Music. Mom was thinking of Pugs On The Run, By Pug McCartney.

2) Ninja outfits. See, I have mine on already.

Mr. Karate is all set for both stealth and speed.

3) Muscles, in case we need to carry Auntie away from anyone.

4) Mom's sticks. In case anyone tries to stop us. (That wouldn't be a good idea.) I don't think we'll bring the knife. It's only wood, after all.

5) A skeleton key, to get into places that are locked!

6) Catnip, to distract Monty.

7) Mr. Karate, to distract shebean.

8) Music for Auntie, so she will know that she is safe. Mom was thinking of Mozart's The Magic Flute, one of Auntie's favorites.

9) Plastic. We will need to stop and take care of certain necessities, and apparently plastic takes care of it all.

10) Veggies! Actually, this is a veggie pizza Auntie made. I will even share the broccoli with her.

11) Cell phones, to coordinate the attack!

12) Reinforcements. There are 6 black belts in this photo, with a combined total of 10 degrees between them. Heh heh. No one will mess with us now!

13) And last, but not least, the other set of lovebirds. One look at Lucky and no one will believe we are capable of carrying out such a risky and complex plan as kidnapping/rescuing Auntie from three small sticky beans and two grown beans, all bent on keeping her.

Mom has to get some sleep now, our mission starts sharply at 1:00 am!

To Do Tuesday

1) Mom has to pass her step exam in karate. PlusOne passed his Saturday. He is glad it is over with.

2) Find the fields of broccoli that Moe and Mindy showed in their blog Sunday. Map out the directions and then must go!

3) Kidnap/rescue Auntie from Monty's family who want to keep her down there in Mary-land. Not gonna happen, guys. Mom is rather attached to Auntie and she wants her back home! Besides, Memere had mom just for Auntie, so Auntie cannot leave mom. It's that simple.

I guess Lucky and I are going to have a few busy days ahead of us.

Mom's Thinking Again Monday

Mom's thinking again. Can you smell the smoke? Actually, she's been trying to do one thing that needs doing around the house per day. And now that Sweetbean's quilt is done and displayed, mom can pick up all the extra fabric. And finish her Asian quilt.

And since mom has extra fabric, especially from the Asian quilt, mom was thinking of making a lap robe. (See, I told you she was thinking.) Now, because everyone is concerned about heating oil prices for the upcoming winter, mom thought a lap robe would be a good idea to keep everyone warm without turning up the thermostat. Especially if we have another cold, snowy winter like last year.

So here's where the thinking comes in. Do you think anyone would be interested in buying lap robes if mom made them with batting inside? She didn't know what people thought. And with everyone so concerned with green papers and heating oil, mom figured she'd ask. Any thoughts or comments?

The Super Secret Project Revealed

By now you all know about Auntie's Super Secret Project. And how it was not just one quilt, but FIVE quilts. Well, mom wanted in. (Auntie needed help. Five is a lot of quilts.) So Auntie goes "you can make Kidbean's quilt, because you have a boy." And mom said "I don't want to make Kidbean's quilt. I want to make the little girl quilt." And so she did. Here I am snoopervising.

Mom had to work fast and hard, though, to have it ready in time. So as soon as she finished her Asian quilt, she was tearing into Sweetban's quilt.

Auntie came over and helped her get "organized" and she did some sewing. The next thing you know, they had this.

Mombean had said that Sweetbean liked pink. So mom made sure it was pink.

Auntie said Mombean was stunned when she opened it and that Sweetbean loves it.

I think she must, if she's playing on it like this!

Sunny Saturday & Karate Stripes

After a week of rain, we are finally seeing the sun. Yippie! And the humidity has dropped too! We are very happy about that.

It's that time again, when mom, and now PlusOne, have their step exam in karate. This is PlusOne's first exam and he is a little nervous, but mom thinks he will do fine. His test is this morning, bright and early at 9:45 am. Mom's is Tuesday night.

Then mom and PlusOne are going to the annual karate barbecue for all the teachers and their families. (Dad is going to visit his cousin from Ireland.) Mom is going to make White Chocolate Chip Cookies and her Pork Lo Mein. I wonder if I will get any.

What will we be doing while they're gone, you ask? Just this.

Enjoying the peace and quiet and comfort of the sofa.

There are worse things in life.

But I can't think of any just now. I'm too busy enjoying the moment.

Wild Weather

Here in New Hampshire, we have many things; blizzards, thunderstorms, hail, snow, sleet, sunshine, (sometimes all in one day) and even a hurricane or two. We DON'T have tornados. Until yesterday.

Here are some of the photos taken from the news.

This house collapsed on a woman, killing her and injuring her husband and 3 month old grandchild.

One man said he saw 70 year old trees snap like twigs.

This is about 40 minutes from where we live.

We had lots and lots of torrential rain. Mom had another hair raising car ride home. Lucky and I were safe and snug in the house.

Boy, are we thankful for that. The ollowing links show even more damage. In one of them, you can see that the entire garage is gone, but the cars are still there! The house is just flattened. FLATTENED!

Mom is really thankful she had a house to come home to and that dad made it safely home as well.

Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Thoughts And Comments.

1) Mom had to have Auntie at the bus station at 8:00 am this morning.

2) Mom had to leave the house by 7:00 am.

3) On Thursdays, mom usually gets out of the shower at 7:00 am.

4) PlusOne is just waking up at 7:00 am.

5) Mom offered to feed Mr. Karate any day he slept at Auntie's, that way she wouldn't have to go there every morning and night to feed Millie and water the plants.

6) Mom has killed more plants by not watering them than you can imagine.

7) Mom has no house plants for that reason.

8) Mr. Karate is off training in Boston. Mom doesn't know when he is coming back.

9) Someone told dad raspberries are not good for me. Mom hasn't been feeding me raspberries any more. WAAAAH.

10) Mom made broccoli tonight. She gave me some. YEAHHHH!

11) Auntie borrowed dad's suitcase last night. It's BIG! I can't imagine WHAT she is taking on this trip. The kitchen sink?

12) It has been raining a lot the last couple days. Mom wishes people would put their car lights on in the rain.

13) I like our new dog bed. I haven't eaten anything in it. Yet!

Today is memere's birthday. You can go wish her a happy birthday at her blog. When she comes back from her trip, mom is going to help her update it.

Tattle Tale Tuesday

Welcome to Tattle Tale Tuesday.

In honor of Auntie's birthday yesterday, we are going to show you pictures of her at different stages of her life. Ha Ha Ha. Let the parade begin.

Quite the face, huh?

Isn't she cute?

Oh look, she's wearing PINK!

Easter 1969. Dig that hair!

Oh look, she's wearing PINK AGAIN!

The geek with the braces is mom!

The mid seventies, can you tell?

All four of us. You can tell the top two look more alike and the bottom two look more alike. Memere always said she had two sets of kids.

Pregnant! Mom edited herself out of the photo cuz she looked really bad!

Mom's graduation party. Upstaged by a young Mr. Karate.

Mom's college graduation, with mom's memere. The one who taught mom how to make quilts.

Well, I think that's enough for today. Hope you enjoyed it. (That and mom wants to live to her next birthday.)
