Fabulous Friday

We discovered a new blog. Rosie Marie Plus Three. And she was kind enough to give me this award.
It represents the blogs that truly love someone or something. It's a ladybug and they are known for giving us luck whenever we see one.

I am supposed to pass this on to Five other blogs, but you know mom. You know how much she loves, well, all of you. So I give it to you all! Because I am cute and generous and because my mom told me to. hee hee

Tattle Tale Tuesday

Mom here, I'm hijacking the blog. I know it's a long one, but I had to give you the background.

This is my Angel. She deigns to work with me every day. She is awesome.

When I first met my Angel, we were interviewing for the sort of but not really assistant position to me. In other words, to do all the stuff that I used to do 15 years ago when business was slow. The father of the woman who held the position had just been admitted to the hospital and I was left alone for a week and a half doing three jobs. (Lady Number Two went on vacation.) The Store Manager was in my office helping me out for hours. The General Manager took one look at me and decided to do the mail herself. The other employees decided that perhaps it was not a good time to need things. It got better when Lady Number Two came back but then we heard that Lady Number One's dad had brain cancer and she wasn't coming back.

Hence the interviews. Now, I hate interviewing. I am "not hard to get along with" according to my Angel, but I can't stand incompetence or laziness or just plain stupidity. (Sorry, there you have it, my deep dark secret.) I was really worried about finding someone who could do the job and I could just plain get along with. (The lady before Lady Number One was a stupid doofus. It wasn't good.)

The only woman I felt she could do the job made me sick to my stomach. I remembered that same feeling from the interview for the customer service woman 12 years ago (who was hired and has since left), so I wasn't particularly looking forward to hiring her.

Then, the second to last interview, in came my Angel. She was calm, matter of fact, had a brain in her head and a sense of humor. Right before she left she looked at me and said "You're funny."

Well, dang, I felt like the clouds parted and the sun shone straight done on me. I knew she was the one. She got me. She really got me. After she left I went running to my boss who told me she was the only one he liked as well. Life wasn't just good, it was totally freaking AWESOME. My Angel came to work with me. We'll have been working together two years in April and it has always been fun. She is great to work with. And she has this nifty talent that I am now going to share with you.

I know a lot of you have friends who make jewelry, but so does my Angel, and because I like her so much (and I want her to keep working with me and not have to look for another job) I am going to show you some of her jewelry and link you to her Etsy shop. This is not a solicitation for you to buy things, I know money is tight for many of us. I am just trying to give her some exposure that she wouldn't normally get. Her Etsy Shop is Cottage Charms and I invite you all to go take a look at her work. She makes bracelets, necklaces, and earrings. (I am wearing a pair of her red beaded earrings right now. I really love them, the beads are very pretty.)

If you have any request, she does do custom items. So go take a look and remember, no pressure. But if you like anything, and you want to buy it, cool. Thanks for reading this epistle. :)

We are supposed to get more snow Wednesday. Eight to ten inches. You may find me in a white padded room on Thursday.

Recovery

Mom is recovering, a little. They had a guest teacher at karate, so mom went to class on Thursday (Which she doesn't normally do), had a great, special class on Friday night, went to normal class on Saturday morning, and then was back at the karate studio at 3:00 pm for another round of karate fun.

She cleaned up today, did laundry, vacuumed under the fridge and stove (what's up with that?) but nothing truly physical. She feels she deserved a break.

Deep Freeze

It has gotten really cold here, again. And with bitter wind, this time. So I only go outside when I have to, or rather, when dad drags me.

I think I had better dress up warm, don't you?

What do you think? Will this work?

He Won't Share!

Ohhh, what's that? Smells yummy.

Scrambled eggs with cheese breakfast burrito? Can I have some?

Mom, PlusOne won't share. Make him share, please!

Sleepy Friday

Karen Jo tagged me for this meme. It originated with Mimi Lenox of Blog Blast for Peace fame, also known as the Queen of Memes.

1. How long do you sleep each night? As long as I can. I am trying to go to bed at 10:00 pm and get up at 6:00 am, but if I don't get to bed until 10:30 or so, I can't seem to get out of bed until 6:30 or so.

2. Do you fall asleep easily? Usually within 10 - 15 minutes. Lately I have been thinking too much at bedtime, so it takes a little longer.

3. Do you fall asleep at times not in your bed? Rarely, and only in the recliner.

4. Do you listen to music or use white noise to sleep? No.

5. Do you sleep through the night or get up a couple of times? I usually sleep through the night, but lately I have been waking up a few times. I think it is because I want to make sure I get up and work out. I gotta relax about that.

6. Do you have trouble sleeping away from your own bed? YES!

7. Do you need an alarm clock to get you up? Yes, except on Saturdays. I wake up on my own then. But it is also 7:00 - 8:00 ish.

8. Do you ever take medication to help you sleep? NO.

9. Do you/have you slept with pets? Of course. It used to be Muffie and Bridget (the pugs who came before). Then it was Lucky and Roxy until PlusOne complained that he had no pug. Lucky sleeps with him and dad and I get Roxy.

More Snow and Silly Sister

We got more snow. Eight inches more snow, to be precise. Yuk! PlusOne's cello recital was rescheduled for next Sunday.

This neighbor's snow blower died. He was trying to do his driveway with a leaf blower. He was bumming until Dad went over and helped him out. They love dad now.

I was sleeping in my normal spot and I knocked a pillow over onto Lucky.

She never noticed.

She didn't move, or flinch or anything. She just kept on sleeping. Isn't she silly?

Take Two Advil And Call Me In The Morning

Mom went to Auntie's Christmas Party last night. She danced for about two hours. Her knees are killing her. She had a ball. So did Auntie. Auntie says they will be talking about mom on Monday. Mom doesn't know why. So she helped four tables win the music trivia game. So she danced around with light sticks on her head and arms. So she made the light sticks look like devil horns on the boss's head (and they got a photo). So she was the only one dancing during Greased Lightning. It doesn't mean they'll remember mom. Does it?
PS Mom doesn't drink. Coffee or alcohol. She had water all night long.

Surf Music Saturday

Dad says when it is super cold out, we must look at photos of when we were super warm, enjoying the sunshine on our fur.

Dad also says that when it is super cold out, we must listen to surf music. So here we go. Click on the link for one of mom's favorite surf songs. Stevie Ray Vaughn and Dick Dale doing Pipeline.
(Mom can't figure out how to get the music to play in the post. Honestly, and I thought she was smart.)

But seriously, folks, go listen to some surf music and I guarantee you will all feel warmer.

Fabulous Friday

It is a Fabulous day. First, the Dughallmor Beagles and Tibby both gave me the Friendship Award.

They are new blogs that have discovered mom and mom thinks they are both very nice woofies. If you haven't visited them yet, you may want to go say hi. They are very friendly.

Second, over one hundred and fifty people are alive because of the incredible skill of Captain Sullenberger, who landed his aircraft in the middle of the Hudson River. That and the ferries who quickly moved in position to rescue the passengers made for a wonderful story book ending. I just have to mention this because it was so incredible and so very wonderful.

Have a Fabulous Friday.

Things To Do In The Snow

Have a 60 car pile up. From people driving too fast and too close on snowy winter roads. And then you can read about them blaming everything from tree huggers to the road not being wide enough but never blaming themselves or their (lack of) common sense. More photos here.

You can get dressed up in all the snow clothes you own.

And snow blow your drive way.

Or free the fire hydrant.

Or you can stay inside where it is warm, and bury yourself in pillows.

Which would you rather do?
