The Creative Process

Sometimes, when mom is feeling stuck on a quilt, and she's not sure how much she actually has finished, she'll mark out the floor in the dimensions of the quilt and fill it with pieces.

This gives her an idea of what she needs to finish the quilt.

This photo is full of chunks that are not yet sewn together. Mom has to decide if she likes the placement of the blocks and the way the colors flow.

Mom was telling Auntie that she thought she had enough for TWO lap robes. Auntie answered, "Good, you can make one for me!"

Mom really ought to have known better. I mean, really.

Mom does have enough for TWO 5' x 4' lap robes. And yes, Auntie is getting one.

Oh what a fun way to work that out! Usually the Woman works from a pattern--as she's not that creative... of course lately she's been doing needlework because she doesn't have to get to the sewing machine--which requires a table which requires cleaning to find a table... and well you know how it is...

Those are going to be wonderful lap robes. I love the fabrics. Of course all that fabric on the floor is too much to resist, right, Roxy? Did you nap on it, too, or just check it out?

Was it comfy, Roxy? Or is it better once it's all done? ;)

When that happens at my house, I play Slip and Slide! I bet Roxy is a Champion Slip and Slider!

Oh those pieces would not be able to be spread out around here, because I would be running like the dickens through all of them. Doesn't that happen at your house? You are making a magic quilt- getting everything in just the right place. How talented you are!
