The Boston Marathon is the country's oldest marathon. Runners from around the world come to Boston to compete. Yesterday, the beautiful, tranquil Patriot's Day was turned to chaos as bombs exploded near the finish line. The ONLY consolation is that since the marathon had reached the 4 hour mark, the areas that were bombed were NOT as crowded as they were an hour before (at 2:00 pm, the crowd was over ten deep on the sidewalks) and that police and emergency personnel were already on the scene in force to make certain everyone had a safe and enjoyable day.
A friend of ours was 20 feet from the first bomb. He rushed to the scene, saw someone who needed help and used his Boy Scout first aid training to help them until a wheelchair was procured and they could be taken to an ambulance. He said his ears were STILL ringing five hours after the blast.
Lucky & I are sending our thoughts and prayers to all the victims of this violent crime and we hope that the combined law enforcement agencies catch the person or persons who did this very, very quickly.

That was horrible. We are glad your friend is okay-
I am finding more and more people who have some connection to the bomb site. I think this is another reason we are all reeling from this senseless act. I am in awe of all the people I saw running to HELP people injured rather than running AWAY from danger. I like to think I would be one of the helpers; but we never know until faced with the danger.
