Drapes, Rug & Day of the Dead .. Cake?

Mom had some extra fabric, so she made some simple curtains for the back porch/sewing room. With southern and western sun, it gets warm in the summer. Plus, mom didn't want people to be able to look in at night. These are temporary, until mom decides what she really wants there.

The fabric is of plates. It's not mom's favorite, but the colors go well, and mom had a lot of it, which was important.

Mom also got another free rug from work. She thinks this one is 8' x 8'. Here it is.

It was free because the customer returned it. The Fleurettes on one side are cut off in the middle. The other side is fine. They did not center it correctly at all. The cost of it being free?

They cut a 6" x 6" square out of one corner so we couldn't sell it. (You don't even notice it under the chair.) They did credit us for the rug and the boss didn't know what to do with it. Mom did. Looks nice, huh? She wasn't sure about it being red in a blue room, but worse comes to worse, she'll put it in the spare bedroom.

This is PlusOne's art sculpture project. He was supposed to make a cake using model magic. PlusOne decided he liked the "Day Of The Dead" theme, so he made his cake accordingly.

The teacher said his cake was very ... unique and he earned his grade, an "A". Mom's just shaking her head.
