That if you put a cup of water in a pan and set it to boil (to make stuffing) and forget about it for, say ten minutes or so, it will smoke. And that when you take the cover off, it will burst into flames. And that the flames will be about 2 feet high. And that when you can't handle the pan anymore and toss it in the sink (because you can't get the cover back on it to smother the flames), it will STILL be flaming. And that when Dad asks you if you need help and you say (quite calmly) "uh, yeah" and he walks in and sees the FLAMING pot in the sink that the flames would STILL be around 2 feet high.
Thank goodness Dad managed to turn the water on to douse the flames. I'm not sure if the pan is going to survive. The other good news is that PlueOne brought home Tempura Chicken so dinner wasn't a total disaster.

My Mum did something similar whilst boiling eggs. Eggs make an impressive mess when the pan boils dry and they explode! She didn't get as far as the flame thrower bit...maybe next time!

OUR mom has all the eating establishments on speed dial at our house, we have no pans left to cook in. stella rose
We don't like it when Mom does that and the smoke detector goes off!

PS the photo of the pot is impressive!
Did you know that coconut oil will catch fire in the microwave? Makes the flashy light and zzzzzt noise. Good times.
And this is why mom just replaced her fire extinguisher in the kitchen with a big one. One day, she will catch something on fire.
