Kitchen Cabinets, Repeat

There were a few comments about mom's kitchen cabinets. Mom originally posted this two years ago, but for those of you who are new, here is the story of the cabinets. At one time mom told Auntie that she wanted the kitchen to feel like it was under water. She was actually thinking of painting fish and underwater plants on the walls, but then she bought these dishes.

Mom really, really likes these dishes.

Auntie held one up and said, underwater? Flowers? What do you think? And mom went Cool!

And so, the kitchen was born. Now, this was before my time, but I've heard that when mom said she wanted to paint flowers on the cabinets dad said "Okay."

This is above the sink.

This is on the other side of the window and sink.

This is over the stove.

Here are the bottom cabinets.

Mom even painted the dishwasher, until she got a new one.

See the new, fancy dishwasher that mom doesn't want to paint, and the new floor.

This is the backside of the very first picture. It is facing the breakfast nook.

You can see the old floor and I am sure you can all understand why mom changed it.

So that's the story with the cabinets. Have a great day.

Yes the floor didn't match. I still love those cabinets. We loved them the first time. Of course it is unlikey that we will ever get anything like that as they just redid the cabinets...and the Male has this thing about Oak.. sigh.

Wow...what a happy kitchen!!!!

Very nice job!

You could have just kept the old floor and called it "vintage"! Doesn't everything eventually come back in style? ;-)

Enjoy your weekend!

Hope you've been good while I've been away and not causing too much trouble.

You Mom and Auntie are very talented ladies. I'd kill for kitchen cupboards like those. Can you persuade your Mom to come to France and paint mine.

What a beautiful kitchen you have! You are very lucky to have such a creative and talented Mom. Our Mom isn't that creative. I think we would LOVE a kitchen like yours.

Hi,

If you find it hard to get those creative juices flowing, there's no reason to eschew your plans of painting kitchen cabinets. In fact, there are scores of sites on the Internet that are filled with innovative ideas of painting kitchen cabinets. Be it wood, metal or laminate kitchen cabinets, painting them was never so much fun. If you want your kitchen to spring back to life, then it's high time you embrace the concept of painting kitchen cabinets. I painted my kitchen cabinets recently, it was an insightful experience.
