Mom's Thinking Again Monday

Mom's thinking again. Can you smell the smoke? Actually, she's been trying to do one thing that needs doing around the house per day. And now that Sweetbean's quilt is done and displayed, mom can pick up all the extra fabric. And finish her Asian quilt.

And since mom has extra fabric, especially from the Asian quilt, mom was thinking of making a lap robe. (See, I told you she was thinking.) Now, because everyone is concerned about heating oil prices for the upcoming winter, mom thought a lap robe would be a good idea to keep everyone warm without turning up the thermostat. Especially if we have another cold, snowy winter like last year.

So here's where the thinking comes in. Do you think anyone would be interested in buying lap robes if mom made them with batting inside? She didn't know what people thought. And with everyone so concerned with green papers and heating oil, mom figured she'd ask. Any thoughts or comments?

Ooooh - we get snow once every few years down here, but if I lived somewhere where it actually got cold, I would be very interested! Where and how are you thinking about selling them? Have you checked out etsy.com?
I might still be interested in one - I'd like to see one, I'm not sure I've ever seen a "lap robe".

Oh - and check out our blog for week one's competition!! You are SO prepared for this - it's going to be a cake walk for you.

We love that idea. Of course our problem is that our human makes stuff like that (and as she makes it she can sit under it when she is cold...)

I have the same problem with Etsy: I feel that people under-sell themselves quite often, which makes it hard to sell your own stuff for a price you think is reasonable/worth your time and trouble.
But - if you have a different look or feel to your work, you may be able to pull it off. And I think Auntie is right - your stuff is unique. Good luck!!

Hullo! Just dropping a quick line to say hey. The quilt that says "CASSIE" on it is beautiful. I really admire that sort of work as I don't have the patience for it .

Isn't there just one place on earth where it doesn't get too hot in summer or too cold in winter? We're looking for that spot!

Mom would turn the heat up anyway, because we don't have much floof and get cold very easily ...

I can't tell you how many times the beans have had to pick me up off the floor after seeing my girl Lucky in all her glory! :)

I looooove lap robes! I would definitely want one for my mom, 'cause she is very cold natured in the winter. 'Course, she's always too hot in the summer-cause we live in TEXAS, the most bloomin' HOTHOTHOT place in the world-but anyway, YES, we're interested in the lap robe.

We are sure that any lap robes your mom makes will be so lovely (we saw the quilt for Cassie)that people will want to buy them. We has one of those lap robes already - mombean made one out of recycled bluejeans - not very colourful tho. We're looking forward to seeing the Asian quilt!

Lap robes sound wonderful! We've been lucky that the past two winters have been very mild here in Munich, but the winter before they had record snowfall! Climate change is a reality, that's for sure!
