The Thorn

Two weeks ago PlusOne showed mom this thing on the ball of his foot. It was all puffy and whitish looking. Mom figured PlusOne had a splinter. So she set to work to pull the splinter out.

Mom poked it with a pin, and out came some pus. The only trouble is that mom couldn't find the splinter and she didn't want to "dig" around in PlusOne's foot. Every night she looked at it, poked it, relieved the pus and couldn't find anything to pull out. Mom took PlusOne for his checkup and told the Doctor about it. He couldn't find anything when he looked at it with his light. So he told mom it would force itself out on its own and if it didn't, come back in a week.

Mom didn't touch it for a week and it didn't come out. So off to the Doctor they went. When he cut it open with the scalpel, more pus came out. He had to make the incision bigger and bigger, and then he couldn't get it with the tweezers. He asked PlusOne if he wanted a shot to numb the pain. PlusOne said no way! Well, after a little digging, squooshing and a lot of loud grunting on PlusOne's part, this is what he pulled out.

A thorn. At least 3/8" long. It was difficult to get because of the way it was positioned, not across, but up and down in PlusOne's foot. The Doctor was amazed that he hadn't seen it the week before, but mom figures it was because of the way it was positioned.

He gave PlusOne a cup to take it home in and to show it off. It broke when PlusOne was showing it to memere. Mom says maybe PlusOne should wear his water shoes from now on. PlusOne agreed. He's a smart boy.

Ouchie, ouchie! I don't even like thinking about something that long sticking in someone's foot. I am glad that PlusOne has decided that wearing shoes outside is a good idea.

Oh my goodness, that looks so painful! I cannot believe PlusOne did not even ask for numbing medicine when the doctor was digging for it.

Ouchie! PlusOne is very brave to not have numbing medicine. Yikes!
We are glad that he got the thorn removed. We hope his foot feels lots better soon!

PlusONE is a ROCK! No anesthesia? Poking and pushing and pus? Bleeeech! And that thorn is ginormous..he should have licked it all the time, like we would, and worried at it with his teeth..he'd'of probably been able to pick it out. Course, his front teeth don't work like ours do, but maybe Roxy or Lucky would have been able to do it..just sayin'.

::Angus, that's so gross..he's a bean, he goes to the bean doctor and the beandoc takes it out. That's what works for us.::

Whatever
