Let There Be Light, And Sheet Rock

Mom said let there be light, and there was light!

After mom spent twenty minutes with Home Depot's Master Electrician Al, yesterday morning. Mom brought her switch problem to him, complete with diagram of the wiring. Al patiently, and kindly, explained what the matter was and drew his own diagram of what the wiring should be. And viola!

Light! Mom was so psyched. Then Mr. Karate came over and they put the last two sheets of sheet rock up. Here is Mr. Karate posing with the machine.

He had been teaching Karate since 10:30 in the morning, and it was now 3:00.

An hour and a half later (and one sandwich and huge glass of milk on Mr. Karate's part) and the sheet rock was done. Mom even mud and taped it. Then, sore and tired, mom took a bath, but that's a story for another day.

Just in case you forgot what I looked like. And, oh yeah, go check out Memere's blog. She is painting on silk and is part of a show with a portion of the sales going to the SPCA.

Boy oh boy, sheetrock and lighting!!! My Mama is not as talented to be able to DIY on stuff like that. She would probably burn the house down in the process. Your Mom sure did do a great job...with Mr. Karate's help, of course!

You are beautiful!

Wow! Your Mom and Mr. Karate did a great job with the lighting and sheet rock. You look so sad and lonely, Roxy. I hope that now the big job is done that your Mom has more time for you.

Hi Roxy,

Thanks for dropping by. I'm starting to feel a bit better, but still have a ways to go.

Please tell your Mom her room looks wonderful. She has a real eye for colour.

Every woman should have a room of her own -- a safe place where she can regenerate, exhale and be creative.

How exciting to see your space coming together! Your lighting is wonderful. How cool to be so handy and do those things yourself... I would probably be putting up sheetrock with Elmer's Glue I'm so clueless about construction...
