Mom had her "step exam" tonight. It was her first one as a probational black belt. Normally, step exams are every six months. Mom's group of black belts joined the class in mid-cycle, so they really were only taught the form, four kenpo techniques, and four judo/groundfighting techniques. During the review process, mom and the others learned the other four techniques and the other four judo/groundfighting techniques. Their teacher told them just to do the best they could, they could only truly be expected to run the four techniques and groundfighting techniques they learned really well. But, mom and the others knew the form and all sixteen techniques. The teacher was very pleased that they did so well.
Here I am with the white strip that the teacher put on the back of Mom's belt. Three more of these and she will test for 2nd degree black belt. Mom is happy. Mom is exhausted. And mom is bummed that she can't sleep late tomorrow because she has to work, so mom is going to bed.
The other bit of really REALLY good news,
MONTY IS HOME! Safe and sound. Thanks to everyone for their prayers and good thoughts in reuniting Monty with his family.
