Mom made two resolutions for this year. The first is to lose some weight and the second is to go to bed before 10:00 pm. She has done well on the first (she only started on Tuesday) but tonight she is not doing well on the second. So she has to get herself in gear.
Tonight was also her first Black Belt class of the New Year, and the first back since the school shut down on the 21st of December. She was happy to be back. She started learning Form Four, which is very long but mom thinks it might be easier than Form Five (which she learned as a newbie Black Belt.)
She also learned this great technique which involves elbowing your attacker in the solar plexus, hammer fisting them in the groin, elbowing them under the chin, buckling their leg, flipping them over by their neck, kicking them in the groin, kicking them in the face/chin, kneeling on their face and then leaving them alone. Mom did the first three moves on a 280 pound, 6'3" ish 16 year old, who told mom that it was okay to "thump" on him. So mom did. Especially after he called her and Mr. Karate "midgets". Mom got him twice really well in the solar plexus (mom is only 5'4") and a bunch of times on the groin shot. He called over to Mr. Karate that "your aunt hits harder than you". Several students heard that and laughed. Of course, mom only hit him that hard because he can take it and he told her it was okay. But it was funny when she nailed him in the solar plexus and he wheezed out "that was a good one".
At least, it was funny to mom.
But now we are getting way past mom's bedtime so I have to drag her off to bed. It's cold here, you know, something like 2 degrees and it feels like -8. Yup, I'm cold. let's get to bed.

Your Mom is doing really well on her karate. You would think that someone in a karate class would know that size isn't as important as knowing what you are doing. Have a good night snuggling and keeping warm.
Whoa - no one better mess with your mum - she sounds awesome!

She gets to really hit people in karate? Whoah! That sounds exciting! I don't know what a Solar Plexus is, but it sounds painful!
My Mommie is opposite of your mom: she has no problem at all getting to bed early but she cannot lose weight! Karate sounds like a great way to stay in shape and lose weight.
Hmm... so your mom gets to go and hit people. What a fun class.
My human is like Daisy's! :).
Roxy, I think it's safe to say"Don't mess with my Mom,or else!" I guess she taught that young man a thing or two about underestimating people :)
This weekend we are getting our January thaw, hope you are too!!

Your Mom sounds like a woman to be reckoned with! Cheers to Mom! You should consider taking the class, Roxy, since that black belt goes well with your coloring . . .
Hi girls, that is good of you to help mom keep her resolutions!! It is hard to get my parents to bed early too.
About my harness, we got it at a store in Ottawa called "Bark and Fitz" but I know you can get them at lots of stores in the States and online too. Their brand name is "Puppia" and they are really comfy! More expensive than regular harnesses (that is why mom waited until I was almost full grown) but I think they are totally worth it!
Love Clover xo
P.S. They have a lot of colours and patterns! Have you seen Suki Sumo's? She has some pretty ones too!
OOOooo, your mom has skillz! That big kid should've known that appearances can be deceivin'...
I've made almost these very same "resolutions" this year, as well, except for the Karate part since I'm not a Karate person...I prefer yoga...
