Mom and Auntie love to go fabric shopping together. The lady at the fabric store calls mom and auntie the "Bicker Sisters" not because they fight. Oh my goodness, no, they don't fight. They purposely show each other fabrics they know the other will hate. So mom will show one to auntie who goes, "Gross!" And Auntie will show one back to mom who goes "Gag me!" And on and on it goes. They are actually having a ball, and they really don't care what anyone thinks of them, because they are having so much fun. The lady at the fabric store always likes to see them because they will show her what they are working on or just make her day a little more fun.
Here are the twelve fabrics that mom and auntie decided had to be in the quilt. Both of them got these fabrics and had to use them so the quilt would look somewhat uniform.
Here is the quilt going together, after the rectangles were done. Can you guess who made the rectangle?
Both the main rectangles in the pictures above were made by auntie.
This one was mom's. Notice how mom doesn't always have straight lines? She likes to be different.
This one is also mom's.
This one is auntie's.
This is a mom piece.
This is an auntie piece.
Here it is going together. I am checking it for quality assurance. (This IS my blog after all.)
This is a mom piece. She made all the crooked pieces just because she thought it would drive auntie nuts.
Lucky approved this piece.
I mean really approved this piece. Can't you tell?
Tomorrow, the checkerboard problem and the final quilt, ready for memere.

Wow! Mom REALLY likes the colors in that quilt.Again she is hogging the computer to have a better look.Mom does not quilt, but her sister(Moe& Mindy)does.Mom sews regular stuff like clothes and crafts.(Not so much clothes anymore). I like to help too,but somehow it looks messier and I am suddenly outside the room!
Now Lucky... thats really into your work! Hahaha.
See ya later for the next installment. Purrs
Roxy, you and Lucky have an important job to do. Did you know that cats and dogs that check quilts for comfort and quality assurance are called "quilt inspectors" in the quilting world. We always test out the stuff mom does, make sure it's okay to go to its new owner.
Moe & Mindy
That is funny what they do with the fabrics! All of those quilt pieces are very beautiful. I think the regular pieces would be easier to put together, but clearly your mom does a good job with the irregular ones!
Those are really cool quilts. They remind Momma of the quilts her Gram used to make.
Love,
Tazo
I like the crookedy pieces. It adds character!
Wow! Those look cool! And comfy...zzzzzzz
What a colorful quilt! I think the crookedy pieces add character, too. Lucky is really enjoying her job as quilt inspector.
Okay! Hang on! The problem with "crooked" is that they aren't "straight of the grain" and might not lie perfectly flat. Mom doesn't have any problem with "crooked" or pieces that aren't perfectly 90 degrees on all 4 corners.
HOWEVER.... Mom produced 12 perfect rectangles 18" x 24" with a seam alllowance. YOUR MOM made 12 blocks, but they were all bigger than 18" x 24". They were all different sizes, and Mom had to "square them up" nad cut them down to the right size before she could put all the big rectangles together to make the quilt top.
Yeah, but that was part of the fun.
:)
