Here is the quilt going together. Auntie is correct, mom did not make her rectangles perfect like auntie. Mom felt it gave her "options."
This is the checkerboard that auntie and mom thought they would put in the quilt so memere could play checkers with her grandchildren without getting out of bed.
But, there was something wrong. It just didn't "sing." It was dark and sort of dreary.
So auntie made another one.
Don't you think this one is better? And here is the finished product.
Memere was very happy. And very proud of her two wonderful daughters. She shows the quilt to everyone, and I do mean everyone.

That is soooo cool! It really looks snuggly. Mine mombean won't ever give up her feathers (down comforter). And that's good coz she could never sew any as awesome as the quilt your mom and auntie made.

Yep, the red/yellow checkerboard is best with all those other cheery colors. That quilt is huge. Lots 'n lots of room to play checkers.....we would use it to stretch out to our fullest...and not move over fur anybody.

I guess your Mom & Auntie had lots of fun "bickering" during construction,heehee. I like the "new" checkerboard.The beans sure are talented and good with the colors.

I agree that the second checkerboard is much better. How cool to play checkers in bed. The whole quilt is wonderful.
