The story of us - Part Three

By December, mom was going crazy without Bridget, her cuddle baby, so she started hitting all the Pug Rescue sites she could find on the internet. She found... nothing. She called a breeder who lived near her and they talked, but Miss Patty didn't have any puppies coming. Though she did tell her husband that she HAD to get mom a pug. Finally, right after Christmas, mom told her mother to call the breeder lady who got memere her last pug. So, memere did, and after talking a while she told memere about a 4-1/2 month old female who was partially deaf and had mange (a nasty skin problem). All she wanted for the dog was a good home. When memere told the breeder lady that mom had had Bridget for 10-1/2 years, and Muffie was still doing okay, the breeder knew she had a home for her little puppy. On New Year's Eve mom, dad, and the boy (who cried a lot too) all went for a very long drive. Dad brought memere's crate, because he knew they were coming home with a dog. Mom wasn't so sure. But when they got there and saw the puppy, mom knew she wanted her. So did the boy. Dad just drove. They made it to a pet store five minuted before closing to get her puppy food, a collar and a leash.

They brought her to memere's. These are pictures of the boy playing with her. Looks like a good match, doesn't it.

When they got her home, she was totally tuckered out, and fell asleep pretty quickly. Then the naming began. Finally, mom and the boy decided on Lucky, because they were lucky to get her and Lucky was lucky to get them. (How creative is that?) Dad just agreed.

Lucky liked Muffie, and tried to stay close to Muffie, to let Muffie know that she was not alone, but Muffie wasn't so sure about Lucky.

Lucky was energetic and playful, and Muffie couldn't really play, because she had a disintegrated disc and a compressed vertebrae. Still, Lucky slept near Muffie and comforted

Muffie and gave Muffie lots of kisses, which Muffie put up with. Muffie was gracious about it.

But pretty soon it was obvious that Lucky would need a sister to play with. Then Miss Patty called. Her pug, Miss Lizzie Woo Woo, was going to have puppies!
