Tattle Tale Tuesday

Today's Tattle Tale Tuesday is a Tale of Warning.

If your mom puts her homemade granola in a huge tupperware and just once doesn't shut it tightly, and just once doesn't put it in the cabinet, don't knock it on the floor, drag it over to the dog bed, get it open and pig out. It will give you a very upset tummy. I mean a really, really bad upset tummy.

I mean, seriously, just look at my face? Do I look like a happy camper?

Remembering Our Veterans

Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May. Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service. First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War, it was expanded after World War I to include American casualties of any war or military action.
Lucky and I, mom dad and PlusOne wish to remember, reflect and honor those who have given their all in service to their country.

Mom's New Project

On Mother's Day, Memere complained that she missed the swing that used to be on the back porch. Mom had to take it down when she gutted the back porch. Mom was planning on painting it.

Since yesterday afternoon turned out nice, mom started sanding the swing. Here is the before photo.

Mom took all the hardware off (some of it she had to hacksaw off because people painted over it). She also took the arms apart to sand them better, and to put it together tighter.

Mom is planning on painting most of it the same blue as the back porch, except for the slats. Those will be the cream color like on mom's bureau.

Mom was also thinking of painting the post between the arm and the seat the cream color as well. Then she will put a piece of foam on the seat and cover it with a nice blue and white fabric she has and finish it off with some nice nail head trim. What do you think?

And of course, while mom was doing that, Lucky and I were enjoying the sunshine. We're not dumb. We let mom do all the work.

Balloon Car Grade

Hi there! I'm here to tell you about PlusOne's Balloon Car Grade. Most of you said PlusOne deserved an "A" for it.

He did not get an "A", but mom is not upset by that. He did get a "B", and this is how it got scored. There were three categories; Distance, Speed and Creativity.

For distance PlusOne got an 85 - Car moved. (100 was car moved 5 meters or more)

For Speed PlusOne got an 85 - Car's speed is above class average. (100 was car's speed exceeds the class average by 10%)

For Creativity PlusOne got an 80 - Car meets average expectations. (100 was car voted as top car on the team. 85 was car is voted on as a top classroom car.

B = 240 - 269 points. PlusOne got 250 points.

Considering everything, mom is very happy about it. The darn thing moved! And that made mom happy. The speed being above class average was way cool. It moved .46 meters/second.

Thanks for all your positive thoughts and comments. Mom is really happy its DONE and OVER WITH. :)

Three Day Weekend Friday

Yee Haw! Mom has three days off! In a row!

The cookout was a lot of fun. One lady made Lemon Truffle! Mom said it was Yummy! I wouldn't know, she didn't bring me any leftover hot dogs or hamburgers.

PlusOne's last concert of the year was last night. It is called the Step Up Concert. You see the progression of students from Third Grade to High School. Boy! It's amazing how much better they sound every year.

But boy, was it hot in the gym. HOT HOT HOT! And it's supposed to be just as hot today. Mom says she is leaving all the curtains CLOSED!

Thursday Three

1) It is supposed to be 90 degrees here today.

2) Mom told the boss they should have a cookout.

3) The boss decided it was a good idea, would be good for morale (things have been REALLY slow) and said he would pay for the hamburgers, hot dogs and buns.

3a) All the designers (mom works in a furniture store) are bringing something (regular salad, macaroni salad, brownies, soda, condiments, etc.)

3b) Mom is bringing the Surf Music.

3c) I am not going to get any of the great food. That's not fair!

Working With The Snuggle Puggle

Mom has been having a little too much stress right now, so I am working with Eduardo to help keep my mom stress-free.

I think this is the perfect way to do that, don't you?

Working With PlusOne

It's seven inches long and goes nine feet. It's due today and is 35% of PlusOne's Science grade. The hardest part was getting the wheels to rotate. Mom and PlusOne tried washers and cd's on dowels, but they kept wobbling. You could NOT use a wheel that was specifically designed to be a wheel. You could have two nine inch balloons to power it, but it didn't go any father with two than with one.

PlusOne will be judged on design, how fast it travels and how far it travels. Let me tell you, it was not as easy as it looks. When mom and PlusOne tried this body and it moved three feet (after several failures) mom let out a whoop that had me running for the hills. Here's hoping for a good grade.

Hoping

Mom is hoping to finish both of these (the tops, that is) this weekend. Mind you, I said hoping.

She read too much news yesterday and was feeling blue. So here are some cute "Awwww" photos to cheer her up.

And anyone else who needs a cute "Awwww" photo to beat those economic blues.

Silly Boy

You know, the pants are a whole size bigger, yet they still look short. Stop growing so much, PlusOne!

Thursday, May 14, 2009

Thursday Three

Here's my Thursday Three.

First, I did NOT get any food out of that photo I posted yesterday. Apparently EVERYONE can resist my face. Pretty bad, huh?

Second, tonight is PlusOne's school concert. And yes, mom DID buy him new pants, so we won't see any more of this!

Dad also said he would give PlusOne black socks.

And Third the insurance company very kindly paid mom for the damage to her car. Twice. So she has to call them and tell them and probably shred the second check. Bummer. $1200 would have been nice.

Tattle Tale Tuesday

Look at this great bag Auntie made. Isn't that great fabric? The bag has a flat bottom that can fold in half so you can fold the bag up nice and small when it's not in use. Auntie made the bag for herself. Want to know why it's mom's now?

This is why.

Silly Auntie made it too big for herself. Isn't that funny?

It fits mom just fine. Thanks for the bag, Auntie!

The Creative Process

Sometimes, when mom is feeling stuck on a quilt, and she's not sure how much she actually has finished, she'll mark out the floor in the dimensions of the quilt and fill it with pieces.

This gives her an idea of what she needs to finish the quilt.

This photo is full of chunks that are not yet sewn together. Mom has to decide if she likes the placement of the blocks and the way the colors flow.

Mom was telling Auntie that she thought she had enough for TWO lap robes. Auntie answered, "Good, you can make one for me!"

Mom really ought to have known better. I mean, really.

Mom does have enough for TWO 5' x 4' lap robes. And yes, Auntie is getting one.
