Thursday Three

It has been very hot and humid the last few days. There is no cuddling going on, but there is lots of stretching and pug bellehs (enjoy, Angus).

Mom's two tests are Saturday. The first one is more important, but mom wants to do well on both of them. Mom figures she will just be wasted when they're done.

The first test includes basics, two forms, one set, eight techniques, spontaneous grab defenses, running (20 minutes) 40 push-ups (mom is still doing physical therapy, so this is non existent) and 40 sit ups.

The second one includes six techniques, one form (a really long one) and 5 leg locks with lots of variations.

It'll be over by 10:30 am, and mom won't know how she did on the first one til the next Saturday. Talk about tension.

Mom has always "collected" things from work, like the rugs and bar stool on the back porch. She had some spool feet from a sofa that got replaced years ago, and showed them to Mr. Karate for feet for a bed platform, (to get his bed off the floor). He thought they were really cool. Then mom showed him the mahogany posts she had hidden in the garage. He went nuts. He wants to make a real bed out of them. Here he is with the two taller ones. Mom also has two shorter ones.

He is all excited about the possibilities. Mom thinks he's pretty funny.

Tattle Tale Tuesday

Mom painted the floor in the spare bedroom last night. She worked on the ceiling and put a coat of paint on that first.

Auntie said the floor should have been painted a brick red, or something like that, but mom had this paint left over, so that's what she used. It does make the floor look a whole lot better, I'll give her that.

And then since I am sure you are tired of seeing all these spare bedroom photos and not hearing from mom since she's too busy to comment, here I am. The reason d'etre for the blog. The star of the day, the Princess of Pugness and Queen of the Night!

Protecting my boy. Aren't I doing a good job?

One Down

One window is totally done.

The entire window is painted (and the windows washed, inside and out) and the blind has been rehung.

The brackets, pole and finial put up. Mom was sewing the rings onto the drapes on the way to the cookout she, dad and PlusOne went to. Mom has never sewn rings onto drapes before, so if she didn't do it correctly, please don't tell her.

And yes, mom knows the brackets, rings and pole do not match, but free is free and they go together well).

The inside of the closet was primed and painted and mom has already hung clothes in it, and she polyurethaned the shelf above the clothes so that things (more clothes) can go on it and be nice and clean.

Mom can't wait to go to work today so she can relax.

Silly Saturday

It's not really a silly Saturday, but it rhymes. Mom will be working in the spare bedroom, finishing the ceiling and putting up the second window trim. All the other trim has been painted, so there's not much to finish. New outlets and switch, prime and paint inside the closet (not mom's job), install the other door for the closet, and finish painting the windows. And the floor. Maybe.

Then everything has to be moved in. Yup, a crazy, silly Saturday.

Chillaxin' And Memere's Birthday

Mom played Age of Mythology with PlusOne last night. She didn't pick up a paint brush, or skill saw or sheet rock compound. She had fun playing a game and was in bed before 10:15 pm.
Can you believe it?

The other, more important, news is that today is memere's birthday. She is all of 76 years young. Can you believe it? How much is that in dog years, I wonder.

Happy Birthday Memere, we love you!

ThreeFer Thursday

Mom had to move a certain somebody out of his apartment. One road trip, forty five minutes of packing, and loading the cars (mom is not called the moving machine for nothing) and one road trip back, unloading the cars and mom is ready for bed.

See you tomorrow.

Wordy Wednesday

Before

After, not quite done

After, but not quite done

Inside the closet is the before paneling.

The reason mom has been working so hard, someone is supposed to move into this room tonight. Mom will catch up with the blog reading as soon as this is all done. Hopefully by Sunday.
:)

Tattle Tale Tuesday

Over FIFTY years ago, something momentous happened. It changed the world as we know it. The sky darkened and thunder rumbled, and then, angelically, the sun came from behind the clouds and shone down.

Auntie was born.

Isn't she, like, the cutest?

Cutest what I'm not sure, but the cutest.
I still don't know what to make of Auntie at times, as you can see by this photo. I still bark at her when she comes in. She doesn't like it. She thinks I am telling her to go away, but really, I am telling her that I am happy to see her. I think she doesn't translate woofie very well.
Happy Birthday Auntie!

Boysenberries And Insanity

The boysenberries are really blooming (?) nicely. They taste so nice when you pop them in your mouth. Mom has to take a bowl to hold all that she is picking lately, there are so many of them.

Mom is working really hard in the spare bedroom. In the last two days, she has sheet rocked, put one wall of paneling back up, mud and taped the sheet rock slanted ceiling, put two coats of paint on the ceiling, taken all the baseboard trim off and replaced it. Taken the two door frame moldings off and replaced them, primed the room, then painted it....twice. Along with doing laundry, a few trips to home depot and trying to clean the mess up.

I think if we want her to slow down, we will have to sit on her, like we are doing here. That is her chest under Lucky and me. She couldn't move when we did this the last time, so I know it will work. I just have to coordinate it with Lucky.

Camp Report

PlusOne had an awesome time at camp. He forgot about mom, dad, memere and Lucky! He also made several new friends.

The counselors all want him back next year. And PlusOne wants to go back. He was in the water swimming every day, he learned how to kayak (and loves it) and he loved archery.

He won two regular awards (Super Shark Swimming Award and Old School Archery Prowess award) (shark is the highest swimming group) and one of the big FIVE Spirit awards, The Head Award, for using his head. Head, Heart, Hand and Health are the four principles of 4-H. (Spirit is the fifth award.)

One of the counselors told mom that PlusOne was the smartest boy in the group, and that's why they gave him the award.

When mom unpacked his bags, she found the soap - UNUSED! (no wonder he smelled when she picked him up) and several pair of clean underwear. Turns out he loved the new boxers mom bought him, he wore them every day. While he was in the shower, USING the soap and shampoo, Mom threw everything in the wash, so he couldn't possibly put on anything that wasn't truly clean.

Lucky slept well for the first time in a week! And we both got in some good cuddling time. We'll tell you more later. Mom's falling asleep. If she told you about her day yesterday, you'd all just think she was insane. Which she is, but still...

Waiting For (Godot) PlusOne

Lucky will sleep much better tonight. When it's just her and PlusOne in bed, she doesn't travel or meander. But when she sleeps with mom, dad and me, she's all over the bed, a little restless wanderer. Thank goodness PlusOne is home.

T- Day

T Day stands for Test Day! Mom just found out when her first test for 2nd degree black belt is. It's the same day as her Step Exam! In fact, she has one test at 8:30 am and the next at 9:45 am. Later that afternoon is the Karate Teachers Picnic. Mom's teacher thinks that mom and her second will probably be snoozing through the volleyball. I think he's right.

PS Mom and dad will be leaving to go get PlusOne around 4:00pm. Lucky is certainly hoping he comes home tonight. She really doesn't like sleeping in bed with mom, dad and me!

Thursday Three

Or four or five.

Mom's missing PlusOne, can you tell?

Memere is even worse. Memere says she can't stop thinking about him.

One more day.
And then he may decide to stay with Nana and Grandpa.

Mom bets that if she brings Lucky to pick him up, he'll decide to come home.

And yes, it's been quiet without him. But not in a good way.

Tattle Tale Tuesday

Today's Tattle Tale Tuesday is about Auntie. She looks real innocent in this photo, doesn't she?

But looks can be deceiving. Mom had 1/2 cup of raspberries on the counter when Auntie came over Saturday. Auntie told mom how much the grocery store was getting for raspberries. ($3.89/pint?). Mom said "do you want some?"

Auntie said sure, opened the drawer, took out a baggie, put ALL the raspberries in the baggie, closed it, said goodbye and left. Can you believe that?
