Sunny (And Hot) Saturday

The heat wave that is hitting the middle part of our country has arrived in our neck of the woods. Thank goodness for air conditioning!

Long Drive

Mom and PlusOne have to go to the doctor way up north today for PlusOne's scoliosis check-up. The pediatric doctor they were seeing moved back to Rochester, NY. Mom opted to go north instead of south, to Boston, since she would be doing the driving and didn't want to try driving into Boston midday and coming home in rush hour traffic.

Of course, Dad won't let mom take the new car (he is having too much fun getting 33 mpg instead of the measly 18 mpg he was getting before). Seriously though, mom is just psyched knowing that Dad WILL make it home every day. His old car was over 12 years old with 109,000 miles on it. Mom and Dad had spent $2500.00 on it in the last three months and the front end was going (really nasty squeaking), that would have cost serious money to pass inspection later this summer. Mom really didn't want a car payment but it's MUCH better than worrying if Dad will make it home in one piece. I agree wholeheartedly. Don't you?

I Won!

Yup, PlusOne and I were playing "Magic: The Gathering" and I won. I'm pretty amazing, huh?

Wordless Wednesday

Duuuuuude

Say hello to Dad's new ride. It is a Kia Soul, color "Dune" hence the name "DUUUUDE". Mom thinks that is pretty funny, but then, we all know mom IS pretty funny. Dad had a 2001 Buick regal with 109,000 miles on it. This had 30 when mom and dad picked it up. They are both pretty happy about it. I can't WAIT to go for a ride in it. NOT! lol

Mom thinks I pulled a muscle in my back leg. I wasn't being very rambunctious, or energetic, but when Dad & PlusOne left the door open, I ran across the street and checked on the neighbor's broccoli. Mom says when she called my name I came running back pretty quickly. Still, she is going to keep an eye on me. Sigh. What fun is that?

Mom Is Worried About Me

Because I am behaving very well and I am not getting into any trouble and because she and PlusOne thought they saw me limp. How can I misbehave with Miss Eagle Eyes on me all the time? As for whether or not I am feeling well, I'm not sure. I'll let you know. I wonder if I could use this to keep mom home from work today?

Temps of 100 Degrees

That's right, some towns and cities hit 100 degrees yesterday. We had the air conditioning on, and that's the way I like it! Uh huh!

Too Hot Thursday

It was 96 degrees F yesterday. Today is supposed to be even hotter! It was so hot that Lucky was lying on her belly drinking water out of the bowl. She was also making a mess (water everywhere) and she was lying IN the water mess. Until mom picked her up and carried her over to the air conditioner. After five minutes of that, she was feeling a little better. Thank goodness PlusOne will be home early to turn the air conditioning on.

It' Going To Get Hot!

The temperature here is supposed to start climbing into the high 90's by the end of this week. Anyone who wants lots of sunshine and heat is welcome to join us. I'm waiting for dad to put the A/C units in.

How does your garden grow?

Quite well, actually. These are mom's sugar snap peas. I don't know why I am looking shamefaced, maybe because I was doing reconnaissance on the berry bush in the below photo?

 

Mom planted this last year and it has really taken off. They are golden raspberries. Mom hopes they taste good.

 

  

This is PlusOne's strawberry plant. He is very excited it came back from last year.

 

This is a sunflower that grew from last year. Mom thinks it is honoring all our sunflower sisters and fire hydrant brothers who have gone to the rainbow bridge in the last few months.

These are my umm, MOM'S green beans. (yeah sure, mom, whatever you say. Summer is looking good.

Truthful Thursday

Here's the truth. Mom is a wuss. She doesn't like horror films, scary stuff or just plain freaky stuff. The original Shining movie was a very bad experience for her. (Strangely enough, she can read Stephen King easily, but watching it onscreen is a whole different story.)

So when she was watching TV the other night and they kept having ads for "The Walking Dead", mom was not amused.

She is even more unamused as PlusOne has decided that the show is really cool and he wants to watch all the episodes. On the big TV. In the living room. Where mom would sit and read. Yup, mom is not happy. I told you she's a wuss!

Some nice weather. Let the sunbathing begin.

Lock In

Every year the high school music department does a "lock in". All the orchestra, chorus and band students have free rein of certain parts of the school, playing video games, eating everything in sight, watching movies or just running wild. PlusOne wanted to go and told mom they needed chaperones. Mom chaperoned from 9:00 pm til 12:00 am. Dad is going to pick up PlusOne at 8:00 am. Mom doubts he'll sleep, but you never know. When she left he was watching the old TV Batman after playing video games for four hours. Oh, to be young again mom says. NOT!

Finally Friday

This is how mom feels, crash and burn, thank goodness it's Friday. clunk

Thankful Thursday

It's been raining a lot this week (some times really, really hard) and Lucky and I are very thankful that we have a roof over our head, a warm comfy bed and lots of covers to keep us warm at night. As well as thankful for the awesome food mom feeds us and the broccoli, green beans and raspberries I can scarf from the backyard.

It Didn't Rain

 

So mom went out and planted her sunflowers. She planted five different types. Or maybe it was six. She hopes they look as good as these from last year. Or was it the year before?

Here I am checking out last year's crop. They were pretty but not very tasty. Now, imagine if the broccoli could grow that big. YUM!

Easy Like Sunday Morning

Yup, that's easy. It rained all day yesterday. Mom was good, She sat and read so lots of cuddling was had. Hope she keeps it up again today.

What do you expect us to do when the temperature drops 20 degrees, you won't sit still and there's no sun?

Fabulous Friday

Why is it a fabulous Friday, you ask? Because it's Friday and Friday's mean the WEEKEND is coming. Mom is looking forward to the weekend because she is tired and work has been very busy. What she really is trying to say is she didn't get enough snuggling with me, so she is hoping to make up for it this weekend.
