It's Friday, WAAAAHHHH

That means vacation is almost over and after the weekend mom has to go back to work. No more snuggling and all day long belly rubs. Waaaah.

Sitting On The Mom

I successfully got mom to sleep in this morning. Climbing on the pillow and on top of her head may have been a bit much, but she didn't do anything silly, like get out of bed at 6:30 am.

I also am attempting to pin her down in the recliner. She got a new book, so I should succeed on that tomorrow. Two points for me!

Tattle Tale Tuesday

Mom finished staking all the berry plants yesterday. It was supposed to be yukky out but it turned into a very nice warm and sunny afternoon.

Lucky and I kept mom company again.
Which I don't mind, but now that she's on vacation, I hope she stays in bed a little longer than she did yesterday. She was out of bed at 6:15 am! I don't know about you, but I don't want to get up THAT early. Vacation means lots of snuggles and sleeping. I haven't seen either and I want them!

Mom's Been Busy

Mom's been busy staking up the raspberry and the rest of the boysenberry bushes. She has about 6 more to go and then she will be done. But of course the last six are really thick stems, so she will need the bigger stakes.

Lucky and I joined mom outside so she wouldn't feel lonely.

It was supposed to rain all day, but it didn't. Mom said it was close to 80 degrees in the shade in the early afternoon. After that it cooled down and got really cloudy. Still no rain though.

Mom's neighbor, who has grown broccoli, says mom's broccoli needs more time in the sun, so she put the plants on the back porch. He also helped her roto-til the area for the garden and the sunflowers. Woo Hoo. It's great to have such fantastic neighbors.

Busy Day

Mom found these great stakes at Home Labyrinth and spent quite a while cleaning up the boysenberry bushes. Especially the last one, which was so big last year, it fell over and mom couldn't pick all the berries off it.

She still has to do the rest of the boysenberry bushes and then work on the raspberry bushes. At least the raspberry bushes don't have pricklies like the boysenberry bushes do. Mom also gave her sister in law some lilies, iris, lilacs, raspberries and boysenberries. She was really happy when she left. I stayed outside all day with mom, lying in the sun, while she worked really hard. It was a tough job, but someone had to do it.

Garden Saturday

My broccoli, which needs to be transplanted to a bigger tub.

My peas.

My green beans.

More green beans.

Mom can't wait for the weather to warm up so she can plant them outside. She also can't wait til they start bearing "fruit".

Thursday Three

If Lucky were a human child, she would be a thumb sucker. In Lucky's case, it is Mr. Hedgehog. First, Lucky has to lick him. See how delicately she is doing it?

Then she has to get it in place.

Just the right spot mind you.

Then she falls asleep hanging on to it, like a child with a blankie.

Or with it stuck in her mouth, like a child sucking his thumb.

And yes, she is sound asleep in that photo.

Tattle Tale Tuesday

This is the Tale of The Murderous Mom!

See the sunflowers? Mom transplanted them into a deeper storage bin so they could grow more before she plants them outside (and since we haven't had the last frost yet, mom doesn't want to kill them). The only problem is that while mom was transplanting them, and tying them up so they would grow straight, SHE KILLED AT LEAST TEN OF THEM! Yup, you heard me correctly, mom killed ten of them, at the very least. I know mom felt bad about it, because she was saying bad words under her breath, but that didn't stop her from killing them.

I think I might just behave for the next couple of days.

Easy Like Sunday Morning

It's going to rain a lot today. Maybe we can get mom to relax with us. What do you think? Yeah, that's what I thought.

Seedlings No More

Mary, Mary, quite contrary, how does your garden grow?

Sunflowers
Actually, mammoth sunflowers

Green beans

Beets

Green beans

Sugar snap peas

Peas

And broccoli. I think mom has enough for an 0pen air garden, don't you? Even if she did plant them too soon, as we haven't had our last frost yet. Silly mom.

Thursday Three Or Four Or Five....

PlusOne received his 2nd Degree Black Belt last night.

PlusOne waiting for his booster kick. He was really nervous.

With Mr. Karate and mom.

With mom and dad.

With the other 2nd degree black belts. He is the youngest of the group, but has been studying the longest, 8-1/2 years.

With the main instructor (left) and the studio owner (right).

All in all, it was a great day yesterday. Except I didn't get any broccoli. And mom has 43 sunflowers sprouting. They are supposed to grow to 12' tall. They are now 4" tall. I don't know where mom is planning on putting 43 twelve foot high sunflowers.
