Actually...

Actually, yesterday was warm and sunny. So warm and sunny, in fact, that it was hot. But not as humid as it was before Danny.

Lucky loves laying in the sun. I stopped as soon as mom got the camera. What can I say, I have a reputation to maintain.

Easy Like Sunday

Thanks to Danny, it's cold and rainy.

A really good day for snuggling, don't you think?

Kitchen Cabinets, Repeat

There were a few comments about mom's kitchen cabinets. Mom originally posted this two years ago, but for those of you who are new, here is the story of the cabinets. At one time mom told Auntie that she wanted the kitchen to feel like it was under water. She was actually thinking of painting fish and underwater plants on the walls, but then she bought these dishes.

Mom really, really likes these dishes.

Auntie held one up and said, underwater? Flowers? What do you think? And mom went Cool!

And so, the kitchen was born. Now, this was before my time, but I've heard that when mom said she wanted to paint flowers on the cabinets dad said "Okay."

This is above the sink.

This is on the other side of the window and sink.

This is over the stove.

Here are the bottom cabinets.

Mom even painted the dishwasher, until she got a new one.

See the new, fancy dishwasher that mom doesn't want to paint, and the new floor.

This is the backside of the very first picture. It is facing the breakfast nook.

You can see the old floor and I am sure you can all understand why mom changed it.

So that's the story with the cabinets. Have a great day.

PlusOne Makes Dinner

PlusOne made dinner for everyone last night. He set the table, color coordinating all the plates and bowls (memere has fiesta ware). He set out the cheese and crackers that pepere COULDN'T touch until mom (the birthday girl) arrived.

Memere said he was very decisive about what could and could not go into any dish. He made the salad, with fresh mushrooms because mom likes them, and he didn't let memere put onions in the American Chop Suey because they don't agree with dad.

There wasn't much left of the American Chop Suey.

He made an apple pie, he really wanted strawberries and chocolate dipping sauce, but memere had to remind him that he was on a budget. There wasn't much left. PlusOne magnanimously decided to give memere the leftover pie because.....

he had made another with a crumble top. Which came home with mom and dad. Mr. Karate was psyched about that. Memere thinks it would be funny if PlusOne were to turn into a chef. Mom says she can see them introducing him on Top Chef as the Karate Kicking Chef. Using his hands instead of knives. lol

Class Is Now In Session - Lesson Three

Okay class, we've jumped up on chairs, and we've stretched. Now we put them together. We jump up on a chair, and stretch over to the table. Once you are on the table, make as big a mess as you can (as evidenced by all the items on the floor).

Or, you can jump up on a chair, and then jump up on the counter. Make sure there is something worthwhile on the counter though. In this instance there was leftover spaghetti sauce with meatballs and spare ribs. Yum!

DO avoid the gratuitous YUM look. This does nothing to help your cause when you are discovered on the counter. Try and look innocent. It personally doesn't work for me (mom knows better) but you can try.

Next week: child proof safety locks and toilet paper!

Tattle Tale Tuesday

Today is mom's 47th birthday. (I didn't know rocks lived that old.) In honor of her birthday, dad found this video that is one of mom's favorite pieces of music.

These guys are the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain . Aren't they awesome?

More Of The Same

Yesterday we had more hot and sticky weather, followed by thunderstorms.

Today is supposed to be more of the same.

I guess I know what we'll be doing later.

A Day At The Lake

PlusOne and his Very Tall Cousin. They are three years apart. Very Tall Cousin's grandfather was 6'6". His father is dad's 6'2" younger brother. His mom is 5'8". VTC likes basketball.

This is how they spent several hours, guppy hunting. Mom mostly saw PlusOne's back and legs.

PlusOne's prize. He called him Bronc.

After several jokes about sushi and feeding him to one of VTC's dogs, PlusOne let him go. It wasn't as hot at the lake, but it was still humid. And it did rain for a bit. Still, everyone had fun.

Stick A Fork In Me ...

I think I'm done!

Yesterday was brutally humid. Oppressively humid. It was melt your brain humid. And the huge thunderstorm we had didn't break the humidity. I think today will be more of the same. Lucky and I will be chillaxing in the ac! After mom is done with karate, she will be doing the same. Dad and PlusOne are going to the lake. Stay cool everyone! And look out for Bill!

Why Are You Looking At Me?

Just because I can get the child proof safety locked cabinet open, doesn't mean I dragged this tin of treats out into our bed.

Really, I get blamed for everything around here!

Class Is Now In Session - Lesson Two

Today's class is much more subtle. Today we will practice stretching. Stretch all those abdominal and leg muscles as far as they will go.

The nice thing about this lesson is that your beans will not know that you are practicing anything. They will think you are behaving normally. Little do they know that this week's lesson is a very important step in getting on anything.

And if they somehow get wise to what you are doing, give them the "Just what does it look like I'm doing here?" look.

Hint: this is what we are striving for.

Today is my Second Blogoversary! Can you believe it? I have been blogging a whole two years!

It is amazing how time flies when you're having fun! Lucky, mom and I want to take this time to thank all you wonderful bloggers who read our silly tales and leave such wonderful comments.
We've made some great friends and learned lots of new things! We've seen wonderful new places, had lots of laughs and hopefully made some of you laugh as well.

Tattle Tale Tuesday

Last week was "Bring Your Family To Karate" week. Usually, when it is "Buddy Week" you have to take your buddy to the beginner class. But this time you were able to take your family to YOUR class, which in mom and PlusOne's case, is the Black Belt Class. Memere and Auntie got on the mat with mom and PlusOne. Dad and Pepere manned the cameras.

Here is PlusOne with memere (wearing mom's candidate tee shirt, which she doesn't want to give back.)

PlusOne lined up way in back just for memere. He was so excited to have her in class. He was her own private tutor.

Of course Mr. Karate was teaching that night, so he was both memere and Auntie's special tutor.

Here they are learning the form (or trying to). Auntie looks very serious, doesn't she?

And here is everyone after class. The teacher was very impressed with memere. He didn't realize she was 76 years old. Mom was very proud of her. So was PlusOne and Mr. Karate.

Hope you stayed cool this weekend. Thank goodness for ac!

Silly Mom Sunday

Silly Mom forgot that yesterday was Lucky's birthday. She is seven years old. Can you believe it? She doesn't look a day over three!

Yesterday was also the 24th anniversary if the day mom and dad met. Way back in 1985! Dad asked for a little Japanese geisha woman to come walk on his back and instead he says he got a little French Canadian who walks all over him. (And if you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn.) Stay cool!

Hot & Humid Saturday

It's supposed to be hot and humid today, so we're gonna lay low. Mom wants dad to bring some stuff to the dump (from the redo of the spare bedroom) and mom is going to make some new shelves in the bathroom closet.

PlusOne is at grandpa's until Sunday, so mom and dad watched Gran Torino. Mom and dad really liked it, but then, mom and dad love Clint Eastwood. Although mom did hate Unforgiven.
