The Author Responds

The author (PlusOne) would like to thank everyone for the very nice comments about his poem. His memere couldn't believe he wrote it himself and insisted mom make a copy and send it to her. This is one of the first photos of the author and his beloved pug, Lucky. It's a hoot, isn't it?

Ode To My Pug

She is golden
under the summer sun
She walks
like there is nothing wrong
in the world
Her black eyes
staring at me
She loves me
for I rescued her
provided a home
and a family
She snores ever so
slightly as she
sleeps next to me
Her extra skin
moving as I rub her
back
She licks my face
gently as I hold her
She is happy and carefree
She goes limp
when she is tired
She keeps me sane
after long days of school
Her curly Q tail
wagging slightly
She runs in little circles
She looks in different
directions when I call her
My Golden Pug

Easy Like Sunday Morning

Lucky and I are hoping for another day as sunny and nice as yesterday.

Mom passed her test yesterday, then crashed.

PlusOne put Lucky on mom's head and Lucky practically cleaned mom's entire FACE. Even tried to clean up mom's nose. I think maybe those grunting sounds were mom being pleased about that, but I could be wrong.

Test Day

Today is mom's test day at Karate. She is going for another stripe on her belt. Five more and she gets to test for Third Degree Black Belt. That will be the end of next year.

The really amazing thing about this is that mom had Lateral Release Surgery on December 10th and only got back on the mat February 5th. She missed FIVE weeks of class and still managed to get in enough classes to take her test. (Normally mom takes 4 classes a week, she had to do twice a week for 5 weeks and then three times a week for 5 weeks.) I know mom will do awesome but she tends to worry about these things. You know how moms are.
