In Dad's Lap

Life is good.

When you get to spend it in dad's lap.

Can't beat that with a stick.

St. Patrick's Day

These pictures are from the St. Patrick's Day Parade two years ago. Doesn't PlusOne look young? Mom made a big wail when she saw these photos. Something about her "baby"? I dunno.

This guy is Max, the hockey team mascot. I can't tell if PlusOne looks happy or not.

Only dad would have PlusOne's photo taken with a Guinness guy. PlusOne is SO under age, and as he puts it "DAD! I don't drink alcohol!"

Here is PlusOne and Dad. Don't they look good together? It was a really cold day, that is why they are all bundled up. And PlusOne is wearing mom's jacket because his is orange. Couldn't wear that to the parade.
To the people who commented about mom's cabinets. If you click here, you will see the whole post she did about them, and see where she got her inspiration.

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone.

Stormy Sunday - Maybe

Last week the lightbulbs went in the light above the sink. You can see it at the top right of the photo. It wasn't ever really bright, but it was the best mom could do at the time. Mom replaced all three bulbs but the light still would not work. So mom said to heck with it.

Off to Home Depot mom went, and guess what she bought. A new light. So after a little bit of rewiring and installation, viola, here it is.

What do you think? It is really different from what mom is used to. She has to point the lights in the right direction, and that may take some tweaking, but she likes it. Dad likes it. Auntie likes it. So I guess it's gonna stay. Even if she didn't ask if I liked it.

Thankful for Lucky

Mom talked to the Assistant County Attorney today, about the 4 people involved in the break-in in December. They will all be doing jail time, some more than others. Two have violent criminal histories.

Their lives, mom was told, were going to change BIG TIME and not very pleasantly.

Mom said she was very glad they didn't hurt us. And the Attorney said, "Oh, they said you had a really cool dog, who was very friendly, and came over to say 'hi' to them."

Well, I think we all know that that wasn't me. It did make mom very happy, though, but very perplexed. Happy, because they didn't hurt the cute little puggy sleeping all nestled in mom's arms, and perplexed, because where the heck was I?

She can't imagine that I wouldn't have run to the door and barked at them. And that if I had done so, they wouldn't have talked about the really friendly dog. The only thing mom can think of was that I was stuck on the kitchen table and couldn't get down, as usual. So Lucky was friendly to them, they didn't hurt her, and they didn't worry about me, on the table. The neighbor said he heard me barking my head off, so she knows I was barking. I was on the floor when she got home, but maybe the policeman picked me up off the table? Or maybe I finally got own by myself.

She doesn't know, and she doesn't really care. She is just very thankful for Lucky, being so friendly, that they didn't hurt her for it.

Feeling Better Friday

Mom is feeling much better today. Her stomach is back to normal and she went off to class tonight. Thank you for all your get well wishes. It was no fun for Lucky and me, of course, because we would rather snuggle with her. She came back after PlusOne and Lucky were in bed and I got to sit in her lap as she read. There is no place I would rather be. Aren't I lucky?

Thursday Thirteen

This is what we did yesterday, when mom was home sick.

1) We ALL slept.

2) We ALL slept some more.

3) Then we ALL slept some more.

4) Mom watched some TV as we slept on her. She watched V For Vendetta. It was interesting. A bit violent at the end, but interesting. She missed the first half hour so she was sort of hazy on the story.

5) We ALL slept some more.

6) Mom drank lots of ginger ale. Slowly.

7) We snuggled and slept some more.

8) We watched Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Mom likes Vincent D'onofrio. This episode had Roy Scheider in it.

9) We slept some more.

10) Mom watched this show called Budo. It was a documentary. It was pretty fascinating. But these guys are extreme. When they fight, they knock each other unconscious and then wake them up. Mom's instructor thinks they really don't need to do that. But then, mom lives in the USA and not Japan. Mom's instructor thinks the documentary is old.

11)Mom ate a little chicken.

12) Mom drank more ginger ale.

13) Mom watched dad take PlusOne to class. She stayed home and tried to sleep.

Of course, when I say we all slept, I should really say Lucky & I slept, mom dozed and tried to sleep. But everything ached and it was hard for her to sleep well. Maybe tonight.

Thank you for all your birthday wishes and for all you get better wishes for mom. She is getting better. Maybe she will really sleep tonight.

It Was My Birthday

Therefore I am Queen of the Household.

Don't you agree?

Lucky doesn't look too happy about it, but she agrees.

Here's my birthday gift, but I haven't officially received it yet.

Lucky thinks if she steps on it she can caim it.

Boy, is she wrong. It's mine! Mine! MINE!

In other words, it's mom's turn to have the creepy crawlie cruds. She stayed home from work today. She stayed in bed quite a bit of the day. Lucky and I stayed by her side, keeping her warm. She wasn't really comfy, as all her joints hurt, expecially her knees. She wasn't feeling well last night so she didn't get my bithday post up on the correct day, can you believe it? But I forgive her. I got to sleep next to her and get cuddles all day.

PlusOne wanted to stay home and take care of her, but mom said he had to go to school. Isn't he sweet?
